About

The project Support in Sport+ aims at raising awareness about young people facing Dyspraxia (DCD) and training actors in sport (teachers and coaches) to provide more inclusive, egalitarian, and engaging sports activities. The project is a transnational cooperation effort including NGOs, Sport organizations, and companies established in national realities characterized by a peculiar yet interrelated condition in youth wellbeing and sports.

Dyspraxia, also known as DCD (developmental coordination disorder), is a challenge that influences fine and gross motor skills. The condition affects movement, coordination, and spatial awareness due to brain messages not being accurately transmitted to the body. This typically results in: fine and gross motor control problems, poor balance, learning basic movement patterns, difficulty remembering instructions, difficulty organising one’s time and remembering deadlines increased propensity to lose things or problems carrying out tasks that require recognising several steps in sequence. In addition, children with DCD struggle with lower self-efficacy and lower self-perceived competence in peer and social relations in the psychological domain.
